Cardio, to me, is one of the most counterintuitive yet inevitable parts of being an adult. Our metabolisms are slowing down quicker than we can keep up, so to keep your body in tip top shape and complement any kind of strength training you’re already doing, you take up cardio. But no one really wants to be kicking their heart rate up so fast that they’re gasping for breath, pouring sweat and generally feeling like collapsing.
And that’s what running is like for a lot of people. Even though going for a run is the most obvious way to check cardio off your workout to-do list, a lot of us would rather get a root canal than take a jog around the neighborhood. Even though cardio is a necessary evil, it’s one that can be done so that you forget about what you’re really doing.
