Part Mother of Dragons, part Christmas princess, Emilia Clarke took to the red carpet in New York City last night for the premiere of her upcoming holiday film "Last Christmas." Joined by director Paul Feig ("Bridesmaids," "A Simple Favor") and co-star Henry Golding ("A Simple Favor," "Crazy Rich Asians"), Clarke shone so brightly in her purple, sequined Valentino gown.
And the color coordination with the backdrop? *chef's kiss*
I have a lot of opinions about Clarke's look. First, while she most definitely exudes holiday cheer and romance with her dress, appropriate for the rom-com she's celebrating, the part of my brain that refuses to let "Game of Thrones" go can't help but make the case that her violet sequins mimic the scales of a baby dragon. Sorry, Emilia, even being cast in a holiday romance can't separate you from "dracarys."
Besides that, though, can we talk about her hair? Clarke spent 10 years wearing the opulent, platinum blonde braided wig of Danaerys Targaryen and pulled it off. She's worn her hair differently so many times throughout the years, from blonde to short to brunette and back again, that we can no longer deny her endless versatility. Her current long, brown locks are a far cry even from how she wore it for her character in "Last Christmas":
But beyond that, let's address the fact that she's wearing her hair down, straight and tucked behind both ears. That's a look that would make anyone else look like a thumb, right? Alas, she looks pristine.
Anyway, turns out this woman can both burn a city to the ground covered in soot and smile cheerfully for Christmas. We love to see it.
"Last Christmas" hits theaters Nov. 8.
