It's not Halloween without Michael Myers. And, lucky for us, Jamie Lee Curtis returned to the franchise for the 2018 installment. It's a palatable slasher that won't completely freak out horror newbies (hi), a good complement to a round of pumpkin martinis and a sneak into the candy bowl before it's off the streamer!
Wednesday Addams is peak Halloween, and even as someone who never really got the appeal of "The Addams Family," I can confidently say that "Wednesday" is great TV fun. Especially Jenna Ortega's hold on the character. This is a good, low-stakes binge for a Halloween night spent inside with the lights down.
Even if the movie isn't about Halloween, ghosts still count as spooky, right? In this rom-com, Victoria Justice plays a party girl who bites the dust in a freak accident. But before she can Move On™, she has to correct her more egregious Earthly deeds and earn her angel wings.
Adam Sandler could make the silliest movie ever and I'd be the first one in line at the theater. "Hubie Halloween" is one of them. It's not particularly good, but it was filmed and takes place in Salem, Mass and is dedicated to the late Cameron Boyce, Sandler's "Grown Ups" co-star who was set to star in the film before he passed away in July 2019.
In "The Babysitter," Samara Weaving plays a teenaged babysitter who also happens to be part of a killer satanic cult. So, her 12-year-old charge — who soon catches on to her desire to, you know, sacrifice him — has to figure out a way to stop her.
This series was one of Netflix's biggest hits when it dropped in 2018 as a modern retelling of the Shirley Jackson novel, applauded for its ultra-terrifying twists. This truly eerie horror series stars Victoria Pedretti, who is downright chilling when she wants to be (see: Love from "You"), and details the goings-on of the Crain family in their definitely super haunted house.
Based on R.L. Stine (of "Goosebumps" fame)'s book series of the same name, this franchise is broken into three parts, each covering a different year — 1994, 1978 and 1666 — in the decidedly unfortunate town of Shadyside, which has been plagued by a deadly curse for centuries.
Priah Ferguson is no stranger to the ~weird~ side of movie-making — she's little sister Erica from "Stranger Things," after all. But this time, Priah goes off on her own, leading a cast supported by Marlon Wayans and Kelly Rowland in a family-friendly romp in which a father and daughter must team up to save their town after all the Halloween decorations come to life.
Michael Cimino is the cutie from "Love, Victor" and "Never Have I Ever," so we can't blame the ghosty girl in "Girl Haunts Boy" for wanting to hang out with him! This is a coming-of-age-esque film with a spooky twist, so if you find yourself in your feelings during late October nights, this is the one to curl up with.
